Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
